All curricular enrichment programs are conceptualized and developed by two practiced nursing educators, Dean Leonora N. Reyes and Prof. Ma. Estela M. Layug, who both have over 30 years of teaching expertise in the field of nursing. EAST WEST Educational Specialists Co., Inc is one of four nursing review centers which pioneered in CGFNS review. Eventually, due to insistent demand from colleges of nursing, Local Board review classes were introduced. Since then, one center has long ceased operations and the other two have branched out into review classes other than nursing. Now, ONLY EAST WEST has remained focused and specialized on nursing review.

Established in 1983 in V.V. Soliven, EDSA, Quezon City as a one-classroom affair conducting 8:00 AM –12:00 NN, 1:00-5:00 PM and 5:00-9:00 PM classes. Dean Leonora N. Reyes for Adult Health Nursing, Prof. Ma. Estela M. Layug for Maternal-Child Nursing and another UP professor of Psychiatric Nursing were the original lecturers. Now, Dean L.N. Reyes and Prof. M.E.M. Layug have stayed on to make the difference between EAST WEST and the rest of the review centers in the country.

In 1985, EAST WEST transferred to Manila Doctors College of Nursing in T.M. Kalaw to accommodate the overwhelming increase in demand for more review classes. In 1987, Manila Doctors College could no longer afford to rent out even more classrooms and thus was born EAST WEST at the University Belt at 2141 C.M. Recto Avenue, Manila, where Malacanang Palace, and such schools as Holy Spirit, La Consolacion, San Beda, Centro Escolar University, V. Mapa High School, San Sebastian and University of the East are likewise located.
